Wow, I can't even believe that I have been home a week already, but the calendar says June 2nd so it must be so. I think I have finally recovered from my trip and from being sick after I got home. I guess I should be grateful I didn't get sick during my trip. G-man did that. The very next day he came done with a cold. I guess from flying those friendly skies. Even so, he was trooper and he let me drag him around everywhere.
My Mom lives in a little town called Morrisville, it sits right along the Delaware river and there is a lot of history in this little town and in the surrounding areas. First things first, on the way home from the airport we had to stop and get an East coast pizza. I still enjoy the thin crust pizza but, man, you have to eat a lot more pizza to fill you up. I think G-man enjoyed it, He was surprised at how large the slices were and that you had to "fold" the pizza to eat it.
Our first official day we started our adventure with a lovely drive along River Rd, I just love driving down this road. (Now I didn't take these picture, but mine would look exactly like them if I had) Stopping at Washington Crossing, where, George Washington crossed the Delaware River on Christmas day to surprise the British army. Then up to New Hope and Lahaska, two tourist towns that are fun to visit. By Tuesday we were ready to hit the real tourist hot spots. We hopped on the train in Yardley and headed down to Philly. Only spending one day in each place, we had to use our time wisely. We couldn't see everything but picked the most important. The liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Betsy Ross' house, Penn's Landing and, of course, a Cheese Steak for lunch. Yummy! The next day we drove down to Pt. Pleasant Beach. I was anxious to be back on an East Coast beach. It was a little early in the season so the water wasn't as warm as I had hoped but still it was a beautiful day. I didn't have to wrapped myself in towels to stay warm. The following day we jumped back on the train (other direction) to NYC. I love that city. Again, just hitting some of the places that G-man really wanted to see. Sorry no pics of NYC (long story, but they're on my mom's camera, so I'll post those at a later date) We started at Battery Park and went to the Statue of Liberty (or the Statue of Leatherby's as Sweet Pea calls it) quick stop to Canal Street so I could buy a fake Versace purse! Enjoyed a quick scare on the subway. We were in hurry and trying to get on the subway before it left the station, G-man in front, me then mom going through the turn style and G-man jumps on the subway before us and the doors close! AHHHHH! I think my heart stopped. I put my fingers in between the doors and was trying to pry them open with all the strength that my fingertips had. My mom was pounding on the doors. Finally the doors open and we jumped on, it was probably only like 5-10 seconds but it was enough time for panic to set in and for me to have about a dozen different scenarios run through my brain. Whew, Scary! Then we worked our way up into the city and saw Ground Zero and the memorial they have there. I was surprised at how emotional I got. Wow, amazing... We walked down Broadway, went to the top of the Empire State Bldg. That could take a day in itself. Luckily, the line wasn't as long as it could have been, I think it took us about an hour or so to get to the top. Can you believe it cost 20 bucks to do it? Yikes! Thanks, Mormor! Eventually, we made our way up to Columbus Circle and finished up in Central Park. It was a long day. Again too much to see in one day. It takes so much time just waiting in line for things. It can be very frustrating, you definitely have to have patience. On Friday, we took it easy and took a drive to Princeton and walked around the University and did some window shopping and then hit my favorite spot, Thomas Sweets. Way before Cold Stone, there was Thomas Sweets, the original blend-ins. My sister spent her Jr/Sr. year of High School at The Hun School in Princeton and we spent many days here!
Are you tired yet? I am. Finally, Sat arrives and I go to my High School reunion. I am so glad that I went. I didn't get to see everyone that I wanted. Many people just didn't go. However, I saw the most important ones. It was so great to reconnect with them. Everyone looked great. We all have aged well, (I think)But 5 hours is definitely not enough time to catch up on 21 years. Hopefully, thanks to FB we can keep in touch better. As the years go past, you forget how important some of these people were to you. We spent countless hours together. We went through very impressionable years together. Even though there are things I wish I could change, there are still things and people I don't want to forget. Well, those are the highlights. I'm done. I have yet to catch up on all your blogs! Adieu'
