Weekly Review

I can't believe that it is already the end of June! This summer is going by so quickly. I really feel like someone has pressed the fast forward button on my life. Another sign of getting older. I remember when I was younger feeling like the days would drag on. Now, the days are over before I get a chance to really wake up. Insane. That's one reason why I haven' t been posting very often. There's not enought time in the day. Although, probably the real reason is we are just usually really boring people and there's not much to tell! Although, we didn't get to do everything together, it was still a fun week. Last Saturday, our friends invited us to go to the Lake and go Seadooing with them (probably spelled that wrong but I'm tired to check). That was very fun. Hubby was working but the kids and I had a great time. Everyone had a chance to ride and everyone loved it. This is a toy I wouldn't mind having. It's fun and it's easy. A lot less hassel than having a boat. Which I used to want way before kids. My friend and I went out together and on the way back she let me drive. As we were coming back to shore, we got pulled over by the Lake Police! He said to us, "how old are you?" As we stated our ages, both of us in our 30's, he's like, "well, you have to be 16 to ride one of those, so that's a compliment." That made my day! Oh, and apparently we were going too fast for a No-wake zone. Oops!
Hubby took Liv and Mr. E to the Lave Beds National Monument. It was supposed to be a family camping trip but G-man ended up doing summer school so, of course, I had to stay home with him. That means if mama doesn't go the littler ones don't go. Which was really probably a good thing as you can see from the slide show, I don't think they could have handled it. They had a great time exploring all the amazing caves up there. Mr. E ended up being the Scout. There were some tunnels that were pretty small and they didn't want to crawl through to have them be a deadend, but sometimes they would open up into larger caverns. So he would crawl ahead to check things out and come back to report. Mr. E loves to explore the great outdoors and was really in his element up there.
We've also been enjoying the free summer movies at the UA theaters. On tuesday and Wednesdays they have 2 movies to choose from. They are older movies and we've usually already have seen them but you can't beat watching a movie on the big screen. The only time Little A will sit still for an hour and half! Mmmm, lovely. Hubby has also been working on our garden clearing all the weeds away. Let me tell you this was no easy task. Running this week has been challenging with all the smoke in the air. In case you haven't heard, we're on fire out West. My throat has been sore and my sinuses have been giving me problems. So I only ran 2x during the week. Today was better but I was troubled with cramps that I just could not run through. This was discouraging because I have a 10k I'm doing on the July 4th. This was supposed to be our test run. Again, I'm frustrated right before a race. We will see. At least the air is supposed to be clearer by then.
Well, I have babbled enough for one day. Good night!

Tidbits

Liv has been asking to make strawberry freezer jam for awhile so the girls made some a couple weeks ago. This is Liv with her friend J cutting the berries and Princess A below pouring the strawberries into containers. They are quite the helpers, there wasn't much I had to do, except clean up, of course.

Papa and Gman before their big trek. They both had a good time and apparently the food was really good! No blisters or twisted ankles so that was good. I think Gman got a sense of what the Mormon Pioneers had to endure along their way to Salt Lake, if they were lucky enough to make it that is. It was good for him to get a glimpse into the lives of the pioneers, to understand a bit more about the hardships they went through. There is so much we take for granted in our lives. It's easy to forgot how easy we really have it.

I was able to talk Little A into a repeat performance of him singing my favorite song. Move over Josh Groban!

Happy Anniversary!

Today we are celebrating 16 years of marriage. Sometimes it's hard to believe that that much time has gone by already. But then I have 5 not so little reminders running around my house and let's not forget a little thing called a mirror. That little object that is so brutality honest and can be so unforgiving. A daily reminder that I am not the same person I was 16 years ago. That's why we grow old together, right!? I have been truly blessed. My hubby continues to be my strength and is a wonderful example to all of us. He has to be wonderful to have put up with me for 16 years! Thank you and I'll love you forever!

Coincidence?

Just finished the new book by Stephenie Meyer this weekend. The Host. (thanks Heidi for letting me borrow it). It's a good read. She has quite the imagination! On Monday, the day after I finished reading it, I was at the grocery store waiting in line. The man in front of me had a scar that ran down the back of his neck! It was kind of freaky. (Read the book you'll understand) I wanted him to turn around to see if his eyes had a silver reflection to them but I could get a good look.

Pardon the Dust

Yes, you're at the right place. I'm experimenting again and I don't have a lot of time to just sit down and finish everything I want to do in one sitting so it may take a couple days before I get it the way I want it (for now). Thanks for your patience with me as I learn.

catching up

I'm playing catch up this week. As I've been a bit lazy last week and spent the time rereading the Twilight series. (I want to be ready for when the fourth book comes out in Aug.) See, I have this problem when I read. I get a little compulsive and don't do anything else. So that means that everything else is neglected, including my children, until I am done. Plus side is that I can read a 600 + page book in a day or two. I just get completely absorbed and I just have to get it out of my system. So now I am back to normal with a ton of things to do. Hubby and Gman are going on a Trek this thursday and they need pioneer clothes. I've transformed two of hubby's old work shirts into pioneer shirts. Which worked out quite well but I still need to do 4 more. Two for a friend. We will be going to some thrift stores to see if we can find some more shirts and maybe a vest and cowboy type hats. We will see what they actually end up with. They will leave thursday and come back Sat. They will be pulling handcarts 5 miles a day, 15 miles total. Should be fun!

I did get a nice surprise on thursday. (can you tell by my music?) I received a call from my dear friend at like 6:20pm to ask what my plans were for the night. The only plans I had were with Edward and Bella (see above link). "We're going to see Phantom of the Opera." she said. How could I refuse that? Someone had just given her two tickets because they were unable to go. Within 45 min. we were off to see Phantom! I love the music and had seen the movie but there is something about seeing a live performance. It was very well done and I really enjoyed it. Well, that's it for now. Hope you all have a happy day!
