Strangely Quiet.

Our family took a very quick trip to Utah last Monday.

Let me explain....  My daughter Liv goes to our Church's Girl's Camp during the summer and this year Hubby and I were both asked to go. ( I went last year)  However, that leaves no one to watch the little squids.  So I came up with a remarkable plan.  I'll have my sister watch them!  Since they were going to be hanging out in Utah I got G-man signed up for EFY (especially for Youth, A youth program sponsored by BYU) and made plans for my Mom to come out  to visit and help out my sister.  So our family drove to Utah last Monday visited for a few days, left 4 out of 5 kids at my sister's and drove home on Friday. (our 18th wedding Anniversary, wow! how did that happen?)

Now back at home, there are just three of us for a week and I've noticed a few strange phenomenons happening around here.
  • It's strangely quiet around here.
  • I went shopping the day after we came home, 6 days later, there's still food in the house.
  • I run the dishwasher every other day.
  • I've only done laundry once.
  • My house is still not clean.
I was hoping to take advantage of the lack of kids and clean and organize my house, however, I've been busy getting ready for Girl's Camp.
This is what my living room looks like.  Pretty much clutter everywhere.  So until camp is over, I'm resigned to a messy house.  (But then the kids come home, who am I fooling?)

I did take a break on Wednesday to finally take Liv to enjoy her birthday present.  Back in April we got her tickets to see Wicked in San Francisco.  Even the second time I can honestly say, it was incredible! (Hence, the Wicked music)

We went with our good friends.

We took BART into the city.  Definitely recommend that!!

Riding BART.

Of course, seeing Wicked was the highlight but I thought the girls would enjoy being in the city.  I was  wrong.  They walked around with their mouths covered 'cause they couldn't stand the smells.  They didn't even want to wait for autographs, they just wanted to get out of the city.  Funny.

Ironically, we saw some friends that used to lived in our neighborhood but moved out of state.  They were also going to see Wicked.  They kindly took our picture.

Well, that about wraps up our eventful couple of weeks.  I'll write again when I get back from camp.

So behind

So Many things I'm behind on.  I thought I start with a funny video.  A belated tribute to my Hubby
(and all husbands out there) for Father's Day!

Swimming fun

Normally by this time of year we can expect to have days in the 90's if not 100's.  This year the weather has been really strange.  In May we had more rain than usual.  If it wasn't raining there were clouds and it was muggy.  Then came the winds, not just the nice Delta breeze that cools down our evenings but howling winds.  So last week when we had no winds and blue skies and temps in the upper 80's to 90's it was time to go swimming.  Here are some photos of the 3 younger ones swimming at our friend's house.  (Today we're back with the howling winds. Yuck!)

Trying to snap a picture of Mr. E jumping off the diving board.
I need a new camera. (have I mentioned that before?)

Little A swimming.  He almost has it down.  He just needs a little more confidence.  He started swimming last year but then summer was over.

Sweet Pea loves to swim.

Friends throwing their brother in the pool!

Normally my children always complain when I ask them to clean.  Well not so when it involves a ladder and some climbing.  The other day I needed my shelf above my front door dusted.  When I asked who wanted to help me they practically tripped over each other to be the first volunteer.  Mr. E won.  He was very helpful.
