Excited!

Ok, I just got the email from Blogger announcing their new templates and designs!  I can't wait to spend some time playing around with them.  Although, it will have to wait until I get back from my little adventure.  Have a great week!

Baseball and the Pinewood Derby

Well, we've finally succumbed to the pressure of organized sports.  We got away from it with all our kids except our last one.  Which is no surprise if you know our Little A at all.  He has enough energy for the masses and is quite athletic. It's not that I don't like sports, it's great fun watching your children play, however, I don't like purposely adding chaos to my life.  There are enough things our children have to do without adding extra stuff not to mention the cost involved!   I can't imagine having 5 children in sports.  There's just no way.  But really, he's been the only one that has actually wanted to play a sport.  Our other children have had no interest other than Liv doing gymnastics for a few years.

Here's our cute little baseball player.

It was also time for the Pinewood Derby.  The last one for Mr. E and he's happy about that (so am I). He wasn't really into it this year.  Here he is with his "Best of Show" ribbon and certificate. (We usually win this kind of award)  Sorry no picture of the actual car, (hubby took the pictures).

Next week is Spring Break and G-man and I are off on a grand adventure, so hopefully when I get back, I'll have some fun pictures to post.  Assuming I'm still in one piece.  Stay tuned......

I mentioned a post or so ago that Mr. E and Liv have been taking a rock climbing class.  Well, let me say that hubby couldn't be happier!  He loves to climb and now he has someone to climb with.  Monday was a field trip day and he took them out climbing, along with family friend.  They only took a few picture but you get the idea.

Doesn't this look like fun?  It's quite the workout too.  They were really sore the next day.
I hope that next time I can go too.

As usual, I find myself way behind on keeping my blog up-to-date.  I just can't seem to find the time
and when I do have the time I just don't want to blog.

But I'm starting to feel guilty for not mentioning Sweet Pea's birthday more than a week later.   Birthdays around here are usually pretty low-key and involve just family.  (I'm not a big fan of friend birthday parties) Grandma and Grandpa V. come up and we have birthday child's dinner of choice, which is usually pizza and sometimes a fun family activity.  All in all a great day.

A sad good bye.  A few weeks ago we had a family move away that we were good friends with.  We went to the same church and lived around the corner (kinda).  All of our kids were friends with other. Liv and R. were extremely close and it has been very hard on her.  Anyway, before they left we had a party for them.  I don't think I've ever had so many people in my house at one time.  Here's above picture has most of the kids in it and then there were the adults on the other side of the room.   A significant loss to our family.

This was how the girls spent the last 30 minutes of the party.  It was so sad! =(
It was even worse the next day when they actually left.

Friends.

No explanation needed.

High Adventure fun

Last month  Little A and Sweet Pea were off track.  Which means hubby likes to take them on fun adventures.  I have a bunch of climbers in my family so hubby took them to Consumnes River Gorge.  Just from looking at these pictures, I'm glad I didn't go.  Hubby came home saying that Little A was banished from going on these kinds of adventures until he's older.  He wants to do everything the big kids do and really, ability wise, he's capable, he just doesn't have the maturity to think things through before he does them.

Here we traveled up to Placerville to a place where hubby and the kids could bike and I could run.

Hmmm.....A little too happy in front of this sign!

Mr. E and Liv's latest adventures include Rock Climbing.  One of the perks to home schooling is to use our school funds on things that we normally wouldn't be able to afford.  This counts for their P.E. class.  They both love it and Mr. E is really good!

My adventure now includes training for a half marathon.  The Parkway Half, the one I've done for the last 3 years.   As usual, I really slacked over the holidays.   Couple that with bad weather and it's been slow going.  To help increase my speed, I'm trying to incorporate more weight training so I've enlisted the help of a personal trainer.  Thankfully, hubby was more than happy to take on the job as I think he likes to see me suffer.  Because if I even mutter the phrase, " I'm sore"  his response is always, "Good!"  The first time  we worked my legs, I could barely get out of bed the next morning.  Going down the stairs was extremely painful.  The day after doing arms.  I could barely lift them.  I have a feeling that I'm going to be mad at my husband a lot over the next 8 weeks!
