Chicken Pox, Birthday & Beauty and the Beast and Running

Chicken Pox:  Last week I noticed some bumps on Mr. E's back and torso.  He complained of a headache and had a slight fever.  I thought it was chicken pox but I knew he had the shot so I wasn't sure.  Well, after looking at his shot records I found that he only had one of the two required shots for the vaccine and the following day his spots multiplied so there was no doubt. Even though he still wound up with the chicken pox it wasn't as bad as when G-man and Liv had it when they were little. Lucky him, he now joins his older siblings into the "Chicken Pox club."

Birthday: Last Thursday was Liv's birthday.  It was a busy day and between seminary in the morning  and hubby working the evening shift, there was not one time during the day when we were all together.  We tried to celebrate throughout the day so everyone could participate. Hubby was home for presents in the morning and G-man was  home for cake in the afternoon.  Liv had to take STAR testing for school in the morning and then we went out to lunch.   She had some friends come over in the afternoon  for cake and then we were off to opening night of her play.

Beauty and the Beast:  Liv participates in a local theater group and twice a year they put on a production.  The spring production was Beauty and the Beast.  She was a milkmaid, a wolf and a napkin.  The group did a wonderful job and it turned out really well. The costumes were fabulous.     Because I'm such a terrible photographer, I only got her picture in her milkmaid costume.  (I wonder if that's because that was the only one I had to make?)

( Isn't that a cute dress?)

Running: One more week until my half marathon.  When I signed up for the race, there was a box that you were supposed to check.  One if you thought you would run an over 2 hour half marathon or under a 2 hour half.  I guess I was feeling pretty ambitious because I checked the under 2 hour box.  Since then I've lost my ambition.  I can give you plenty of excuses. The weather, an illness, a vacation, but the latest has been my feet.  I'm definitely an advocate of having good shoes so when I needed new shoes a couple months ago I spent more than I normally would on a better pair of shoes.  Well, they were not better for me.  They were fine for runs under 5 miles but anything over I would end up with a pain in my toes that ran under my foot and end with a knot in my calf.  It was getting too painful to run through and I finally went and took them back.  Tomorrow I'm supposed to run 12 miles.  We'll see how my new shoes work out.  I'm not too optimistic anymore but we'll see how it goes. Therefore, I'm playing my running song in hopes of motivating me. At this point whatever works.
