It's funny how no matter what generation you grow up in, teenagers will go through the same phases. I guess it's a teenager thing that most boys go through. For my son, it's the longer hair. ( I don't want to really call it long because compared to some it's not.) I know when I was young, many boys I knew had long hair. I suppose it's a way of rebelling-or a form of expression, whatever you want to call it, as a parent you have to choose your battles. I guess because this wasn't that extreme I tired not to fight it. However, I desperately wanted him to cut it. The problem is finding a place that would do a good job. I used to take him to the place I went to. It always looked great, but she started to get too expensive so I tried taking him to places like Super Cuts. Well, after every visit, I would end up having to "fix" it, or trying to. Recently, I talked him into trying a new place and I tell the lady he wants the same style just shorter. Well, when she's done, it looks just about the same as before we started. Now, keep in mind the ladies are all Asian and it's hard to understand them, but what we did understand was that she said. " I layered it, I layered it." I tried to tell her we wanted it shorter but she insisted that she "layered it" Now all I can think of is that comedy skit about the nail salons, (go
here to watch, very funny) I wasn't going to debate over it, I was only out six bucks. Needless, to say I relented and we went back to our favorite hair lady. It was worth it. G-man decided that it was time to cut the locks and we're both happy with the result. She even got him to put product in his hair, and this from the boy who ran away screaming every time I pulled out the hairspray.
Before (not right before but the best I could do)

After (the picture doesn't do the cut justice but you get the idea)

That hair looks so much better! And don't tell him this, but the shorter hair reminds me A LOT of the younger 8 year-old G-man.
