Scary!
I thought it would be scary when my 14 yr old started driving, well, it's even scarier when it's your 4 year old! I was little motivated this morning so Little A and I went out to wash our van that it so desperately needed. I was just finishing up vacuuming the back seats when the van started rolling down the driveway! I jumped up so fast, (I don't even move that fast when I'm running) moved Little A out of the way and slammed on the breaks just before we rolled out into the street. (My neighbors BMW parks across the street.) He was able to move the gear shift from P to L. OH MY GOSH! Talk about scary! We had a nice long talk about NOT playing around in a car. Hopefully, it scared him enough too, that he won't try to do that again. I'm just so grateful I wasn't cleaning behind the van when he did that. Apparently it's never too early to talk to your kids about playing around in a car.

Oh, my! I am so glad that it wasn't worse. When E was 3 her little friend was here. Her Mom came to pick her up. We were talking in the doorway, we heard this horrible screech. Her 3 yr. had climbed in the back door and then climbed up and
pulled it into gear. It rolled backwards down our inclined driveway-strait towards the neighbors mailbox-old cemented milkcan, and the old ditch. The back passenger door was open. It bent the door completely around to where the drivers door couldn't be opened. The Durango was high centered on the paper box post. It had to be cut with a chain saw.
It was such a miracle that E had not followed the little girl out.
Also that our elderly neighbor wasn't walking on the road-she wouldn't have been able to get out of the way.
It was one of those things that I think of EVERY TIME I park in my driveway-or any driveway. Most cars have a safety mechanism, you have to push the brake in for the car to come out of park. However, there are still a few makes that don't have this.
I am so glad that everything is alright!
Way to go Axel!! Just kidding! I'm glad that you weren't behind the car also!! I'm sure that was scary!! I drove my parents car once when I was little... we were in a grocery store parking lot!!
